Federal Financial Aid is available to US citizens and Permanent Residents. If you have questions about your status and eligibility, please do not hesitate to contact our office. Eligibility for federal, state, and institutional programs is based on the submission of a FAFSA® (or TASFA, if applicable. See below). More information on types of aid, amounts, and ongoing eligibility can be found in the University Bulletin (Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid section).
University of Dallas does not require the CSS Profile.
Please Note* Due to changes required by the FAFSA® Simplification Act, the 2024-2025 FAFSA® will be available by December 31, 2023. The Department of Education will begin sending processed FAFSA® results to us at the end of January. The delay of the FAFSA® this year is due to significant changes required by the FAFSA® Simplification Act.
This is only temporary for 2024. After the 2024-2025 aid year, the FAFSA® will be available in October as usual.
We encourage all students to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA® by March 15, 2024, which is the priority deadline. For more information on the significant changes for federal student aid, please see our FAFSA Simplification information webpage.
You must complete the FAFSA® (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) annually when you wish to apply for aid.
The 2024/25 FAFSA will open by December 31, 2023.
The income information will be based on 2022 (called prior prior year or PPY).
The 2024/25 priority deadline for all undergraduate students is March 15, 2024.
UD will accept FAFSA® submissions after this date. However, not all types of aid will be available to students
who submit their FAFSA® after the priority date.

UD uses the FAFSA® as well as year in school, enrollment status, and cost of attendance (COA) to determine aid offers.
Financial Need as determined by the FAFSA® helps UD determine how much a student can receive in need-based funds such as the Pell Grant, SEOG, federal work-study, Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, Texas Tuition Equalization Grant, etc. The federal unsubsidized loan is not need based. Combined financial aid cannot exceed your total Cost of Attendance.
New students will receive an award notification detailing how to view their financial aid offer. The notifications would normally be emailed to students starting in December, however with the delay of the release of the FAFSA, we expect notifications to start going out in late March or early April. Please check your preferred email for updates at that time after submitting your FAFSA®.
Returning undergraduate students will receive an award notification of your financial aid offer through email after April 1st. If you wish to accept and/or decline the financial aid offer, you must login to BannerWeb and do so in the Financial Aid section. Please check your UD email for updates. Failure to check your email regularly could result in a delay in processing your financial aid.

We recognize that the FAFSA® may not always accurately reflect your current financial situation or that there may be circumstances that affect your dependency status. Click on the heading above to see what constitutes Special and Unusual Circumstances.
If you accept your Federal Direct Loan(s) and you are a new borrower at UD, you will be required to complete a Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Direct Loan Entrance Counseling at studentaid.gov. Failure to do so will keep your loan from disbursing to your account, and ultimately in the cancellation of your loan.
If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, but you are classified as a Texas resident and therefore are eligible to pay the Texas in-state tuition rate, use the TASFA.
If you need the 2023/24 TASFA, please contact us. To use this application, your classification as a Texas resident must not be due to a waiver, such as an in-state scholarship or an assistantship.
If you have been granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), we encourage you to complete the FAFSA®. Although DACA students are not eligible for federal student aid, you still may be eligible for state or college aid, and submitting a FAFSA® can help you access those other types of aid. To begin your FAFSA®, you must enter your Social Security Number. While completing the FAFSA®, you must answer the "Are you a US citizen?" question as "No, I am not a citizen or eligible noncitizen". If you filed taxes for 2022, you may also be able to transfer your tax information using IRS Direct Data Exchange (DDX) on the FAFSA®.
The federal government selects FAFSA® submissons to be verified by the Office of Financial Aid. Our school may also select FAFSA® submissions to be verified. During verification, a financial aid counselor must confirm that certain data elements on the FAFSA® are correct before a student may receive any financial aid. In order to have payment arrangements made by the tuition due date, please turn in all requested verification items by the deadlines below:
Failure to submit documentation by the final verification deadline may result in loss of financial aid eligibility. Our office is not required to complete verification after the final deadline has passed. Students may appeal to the Director of Financial Aid for an extension to the deadline.
Official tax return information from the IRS is required as part of the verification process. When completing your FAFSA® online, you have the option of using the IRS Direct Data Exchange (DDX). Please see page 3 of the verification worksheet for further instructions. The DDX is the preferred method of submitting tax information to the school because it is the quickest, easiest, and most secure way to submit your tax information.
